QuickTime Alternative
QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and
other
extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player. It also
supports QuickTime content that is embedded in WebPages.
Do not install Apple's Quick Time!! It will not let you download or save
anything!
It will take over and not let any other video program work right!
Use QuickTime Alternative!!

RealPlayer To watch AVI, RM, RAM files
OR
Real Alternative
Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files without having to
install the official RealPlayer. You do need a media player that is capable of
playing RealMedia files. The included
Media Player Classic supports it. Supported are RealAudio (.ra .rpm),
RealVideo (.rm .ram .rmvb), RealText (.rt), and ReadPix (.rp). Not fully
supported are: Streaming smil files (.smi .smil) and Realmedia embedded in
webpages.
4. FREE VIDEO RECORDER Real7ime Converter (R7C)
Real7ime Converter (R7C) is a converter of
any RealPlayer(tm) streaming medias (video and sound) to AVI/WAV/MP3 format. It is a realtime converter because it does not manage Real Time Streaming Protocol(tm) (RTSP) directly so the needed time to convert a media will be greater or equal to the time of the media.
You need a "Video Recorder" or "Download
Manager" Than can handle rtsp:// urls because some sites like
movieflix.com Will let you join for free
and let you watch some free movies but you can't save them with out the
recorder.
First use use FireFox to go to the web pages on the top of FireFox click on
"Tools" then Downloads and set it to ask you if you want to save it or run it.
Save the file where you want.
Go to the directory you saved in and you will see a 1K file
like "185.ram"
Right click on the file and chose "Open With" use Notepad to open
the file and you will see a URL somthing like this "rtsp://g2.movieflix.com/flix/gumasass_b.rm"
This is the address you need for the source file of the Recorder. copy it and past it in the recorder or Download Manager of your choice. If you use the FREE VIDEO RECORDER Real7ime Converter (R7C) then you will have the whole movie in AVI format which will run ok in either Player.
The 1K ram file will only run if you are connected to the internet. And If the connection is slow you will not be able to watch with out a lot of breaks!
If you use the Gigaget download manager then you will have the whole movie in A Video Clip format which will run ok in Windows Media Player format. DON'T LIKE Gigaget UNINSTALLED
If you use the Net Transport 1.87 download manager then you will have the whole movie in a RealPlayer .rm format which will run ok in Real Player format. I USE THIS ONE !
What is rtsp:// ?
The Web definitions for RTSP = Real Time Streaming Protocol. A client/Server
communication protocol that simplifies the distribution of multimedia contents
on the Internet.

You need this is you want to convert AVI files to MPEG or MPG files. They are smaller! Some Sites download in AVI format.
Above the 1K (185.ram) file held the URL " rtsp://g2.movieflix.com/flix/gumasass_b.rm " which we pasted in the recorder source file. The output file was "185.avi" We then loaded it in to the Converted and got 185.mpg out! Now Rename the files so you know what they are and delete the AVI and RAM files. (ie MoveName.avi MoveName.ram)
